Sine Nomine engages audiences through innovative musical experiences to promote the education and appreciation of vocal music. We are a group committed to enriching the lives of all populations through music, regardless of culture, age, race, beliefs, or sexual identities. We are musicians, teachers, parents, students and members of our community. Sine Nomine is a vital artistic force and has earned a reputation for excellence that engages, educates and provokes audiences.

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín
Premiere of the version for chorus, soloists and piano

Performed in collaboration with the Sustainable Symphony

Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín is the signature concert of The Defiant Requiem Foundation and tells the story of the courageous Jewish prisoners in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp (Terezín) during World War II who performed Verdi’s Requiem while experiencing the depths of human degradation. This performance features the full Verdi Requiem with the chorus and soloists accompanied by a single piano, as it was in Terezín. The prisoners’ story is told between the movements with video and narration.

$10 General Admission ・ $8 students, seniors, active military and veterans, and UNC Charlotte faculty, staff, and alumni

Presented by the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Department of Music and The Defiant Requiem Foundation with funding from the Gretchen M. Brooks University Residency Project.
